The 5th Quarter…”or after the Final Rose” for my fellow Bachelor Fans
I had an experience some years ago where I bought a car and immediately had blue-tooth issues. The dealership was no help at all and I had to learn the hard way….via google search ironically….that my year and model was known for this particular issue. Though the buying experience was lovely, the after-sale assistance was non-existent!
Though I can not solve all problems, I pride myself in being your resource after the transaction closes. To me, this is one of the most important aspects of being in Real Estate; fielding those calls where your heart drops into your stomach, going into action mode, and creating a solution.
I had my first ever call about a letter from State of California, demanding $14,000 in unpaid property taxes from my clients who had purchased the home almost 2 years ago. Jumped off the treadmill, found the title report, saw the tax lien and called the Title Company immediately. It turned out there were 2 tax liens on the previous owner and only one was paid at close. A big “oops” on the Title Company….. situation required many followup conversations and was ultimately solved!
Another example was when my best friend and real estate client called in a panic telling me the City of Sausalito would not issue permits for a remodel because the sewer line was not in compliance at close. After a 4 hour review of my file, I found the very documents of compliance needed, scanned them to the City Manager and received an email with-in moments with an apology. Permits were issued and fabulous remodel is in full swing!
Home warranty calls, property left on site after a close, rain related “surprises”…..I can go on, yet I think you get the point. While others may become defensive….perhaps offer some advise or phone numbers….or even ignore you…I jump in as if my life depended on it and do my best to resolve.
Count on me in the 5th Quarter!!
